Certificate of Eligibility
International Students who will enroll in Kumamoto University need to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility. It takes about a month to issue it.
You must submit the following documents:
For privately funded students:
- Application for Certificate of Eligibility (College Student)
- One photo taken within 3 months (4 cm × 3 cm, with no hats on and no background scenery)
- Postal stamps of 404 yen worth
- A copy of the Certificate of Admission
- A financial statement (certficate of scholarship, certificate of bank balance, or a copy of bankbook)
- A copy of passport
If you would like to bring your family members to Japan:
- Application for Certificate of Eligibility (Dependent) (one for each family member)
- One photo taken within 3 months (4 cm × 3 cm, with no hats on and no background scenery)
- Postal stamps of 404 yen worth (The price changes depending on the number of your application.)
- Proof of Relationship
- If you bring your husband or wife to Japan: Certificate of marriage
- If you bring your children to Japan: Birth certificates for children
- A copy of your Regidence Card (both sides)
- Proof of ability to support your family members who are coming to Japan
- In the case of Japanese government scholarship students: Certificate of Scholarship
- In the case of privately funded students: Certificate of bank balances or copy of bank book
- Certificate of Student Status
- A copy of your and your dependants' passports
