Other scholarships for privately-funded students

Privately funded students are eligible to apply for the scholarships listed below after enrolling in Kumamoto University. The application period qualification requirements and the contents of each scholarship are subject to change. Please note that the application period, eligibility requirements, and details may change, so be sure to check the bulletin board or the official application guidelines. Additionally, if you decide to apply, please be aware that you will need to submit documents to the university.

Also, there are scholarships available through various departments, so please inquire with the academic affairs  office of your department.

Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students (Gakushu Shoreihi) - Currently not accepting applications -

・Application Period: Around April
・Qualification: Privately funded full-time students or research students enrolled in graduate programsPrivately funded full-time students in undergraduate programs
・Stipend: undergraduates = ¥48,000 / month graduate students = ¥48,000 / month

The following scholarships are available to international students who apply directly to the scholarship foundations.

College Women's Association of Japan (CWAJ) Scholarship

・Application Period: May to late October
・Qualification: Female graduate students
・Stipend: ¥2,000,000 / year



Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Scholarship

・Application Period: September to October
・Qualification: Privately funded students from Taiwan who will be pursuing full-time graduate studies in the next academic year
・Stipend: master course students ¥144,000 /month : doctoral course students ¥145,000 /month

 

Honjo International Scholarship Foundation

・Application Period: September to October
・Qualification: Privately funded students in Master's and doctoral course
・Stipend: The scholarship period is the shortest period of time between the following amounts and the final goal of the degree.
1. \230,000 / month for one to two years
2. \210,000 / month for 3 years
3. \180,000 / month for 4 to 5 years
