International Students from KU participates International Student Symposium
International Student Symposium which is annually organized by Kumamoto Foreign Student Exchange Promotion Regional Conference was held on December 18, 2010 at Kumamoto City International Center. More than 150 participated in the symposium including internationals students studying in Kumamoto and the local residences.
The first half of the program (between 1:00pm-2:30pm) consisted of panel discussion on the theme of “Japanese Mochi (Japanese Rice Cake)” and world food culture. The international students spoke, in fluent Japanese, on their first impressions on Japanese Mochi. They also suggested new and unique methods of enjoying Japanese Mochi by eating it with other food items such as honey, peanut butter, curry etc.
During the second half of the program (between 2:30-4:00pm), all the participants enjoyed preparing and eating Mochi. Many international students tasted Mochi for the first time in their lives. Along with Mochi, participants enjoyed selection of teas around the world including coffee from UAE, jasmine tea from Indonesia, banaba tea from Philippines served by the international students.
