On October 1, 2024, Kumamoto University held the Autumn Entrance Ceremony at the 100th Anniversary Hall.
In the welcome speech, President Hisao Ogawa welcomed 78 new students, stating, " Your journey will involve more than mastering your own specialized field, it is equally important to gain a broad spectrum of knowledge across various disciplines." He also encouraged the new students, saying, " Please make as many friends as possible and build your world-wide network. Respect for each other’s value is the first step to fostering true and lasting friendship. "
