East Asia Research Network on Development of Advanced Mg Alloys Established
On November 12th, the 4th Pan-Yellow Sea Rim International Symposium on Magnesium Alloys was held at the Kumamoto University 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall. Participants included 120 researchers and students from China, Korea and Taiwan. Cutting edge research results on Mg alloys were shared and discussed.
On the previous day of the symposium, Kumamoto University held a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding - Establishment of East Asia Research Network on Development of Advanced Mg Alloys, with 9 universities including Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), KITECH (Korea), National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan) to implement international collaboration in developing future-generation heat-resistant Mg alloys. This Memorandum mentions that the universities will mutually dispatch their researchers once a month to share their fundamental technologies for developing mass production techniques of Mg alloy.
To this aim, Kumamoto University is now scheduled to establish the East Asia Mg International Joint Research Organization and will invite laboratories from each of the signing counties as well as install a Kumamoto University laboratory in the partner universities in 2012.
