Visit to Harbin Institute of Technology during June 4-6,2010
Harbin Institute of Technology (China), which has ongoing agreements for Academic Exchange with Kumamoto University, organized its 90th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony and the International presidential Forum, on June 6, 2010. Prof Isao Taniguchi, President, represented our University at these programs.
On the previous day, ‘Overseas University Promotion Day’ was held in the City Center to introduce universities from abroad. The Presidents and Vice-Presidents of many Universities, including Prof Taniguchi, participated in the event.
On the morning of June 6, about 16000 people, including Presidents and Vice-Presidents from nearly 100 universities with which Harbin Institute of Technology has agreements for academic exchange, attended the 90th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony. Then, in the afternoon, the International Presidential Forum was held, with the central theme as ‘Globalization of Higher Education’. The Presidents and Vice-Presidents of various universities delivered lectures, and actively contributed to the discussions and the exchange of ideas.
As part of the present visit, Prof Taniguchi and Prof Wang Shuguo, President of Harbin Institute of Technology, met of the evening of June 4 and deliberated on the current situation and future prospects for academic interaction. They reconfirmed to continue and further strengthen the friendship between the two universities.
