The 9th Kumamoto University Forum to be held in Shanghai in January, 2012
For the strategy of globalization, Kumamoto University has held a series of international forum in different cities around the world such as Daejeon of Korea in 2006, Surabaya of Indonesia in 2008, Kumamoto of Japan in 2009 and Hanoi of Vietnam in 2010 to further enhance its global presence, expand international networking and facilitatepersonnel exchanges.The 9th Kumamoto University Forum in Shanghai is going to be held in Shanghai, China on January 10, 2012 with a theme of strengthening collaborative ties between China and Kumamoto toward sustainable development of East-Asia in the new era. Having currently 38 partner universities in China, Kumamoto University has already accepted hundreds of Chinese students to study in various faculties and graduate schools, especially in the Graduate School of Social and Cultural Sciences, which recently opened a special business course for Chinese students, "East Asian Business Communication Course", to attract more Chinese students. Meanwhile, Kumamoto University Shanghai office and Dalian offices has been established in succession, functioning as its strategic bases to promote international academic exchange activities in China. The current Kumamoto University Shanghai office, therefore, will be reopened inside the Kumamoto Shanghai Office, a joint office of Kumamoto University, Kumamoto Prefecture and Kumamoto City. There is an opening ceremony of the Kumamoto Shanghai office on January 11, 2012, the next day of the forum.
It is expected that this forum will provide an excellent platform for Kumamoto University to appeal more efficiently to both Chinese students and Chinese universities by its outstanding education and research activities so as to contribute largely to the increasing of Chinese students and the strengthening of academic exchanges between Kumamoto University and Chinese universities.
