Privacy Statement
Kumamoto University shall promote efforts in accordance with the following policy in order to appropriately handle and protect personal information necessary for development of human resources and advanced academic researches, which are based on international education standards, researches collaborating with industries and universities, state-of-the-art medical technology, and advanced local healthcare.
1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
In order to ensure the strict compliance of laws and other regulations regarding protection of personal information, Kumamoto University shall improve internal regulations for the protection of personal information, establish clear rules for the handling of the personal information, and keep the university staff informed.
2. Appropriate Acquisition, Use and Provision of Personal Information
Kumamoto University shall acquire personal information in a proper manner and use the information for the purpose that shall be clearly specified in advance. The purpose of the utilization shall be announced officially through the website, etc. in accordance with the laws and regulations.
In addition, except when obtaining consent from the owner of the personal information, or when disclosing the information meets the requirements specified in applicable laws, regulations, legal processes or governmental requests, Kumamoto University shall not provide information to any third parties.
3. Protection Measures
For managing personal information, Kumamoto University shall make stringent efforts to prevent unauthorized access, information leakage, loss, and falsification, etc. and implement necessary and appropriate measures.
Kumamoto University shall train its university staff to enhance knowledge, skills, and awareness regarding protection measures of personal information. In addition, if Kumamoto University outsources the handling of personal information, contractors shall be properly supervised.
4. Suspension of Disclosure, Correction, and Use of Personal Information
In cases where Kumamoto University is asked by the owner of the information to suspend the disclosure, correction, or use of personal data owned by Kumamoto University, the following Personal Information Consultation Service shall make efforts to respond promptly. In cases where Kumamoto University cannot comply with the requests due to laws and regulations, etc., Kumamoto University shall provide an explanation.
5. Continuous Improvement Efforts
Kumamoto University shall regularly review whether personal information is appropriately handled and protected, and make continuous improvements based on the results.

However, please be aware that in some cases identity verification related to the question and/or complaint shall be required.
