Celebrating Creativity: Kumamoto University Photo Contest 2025 Award Ceremony Held at the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School
On December 19, the Award Ceremony for the Kumamoto University Photo Contest 2025 was held at the historic Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School.
Hosted by the Kumamoto University Campus Museum, the contest once again attracted a wide and diverse range of participants — not only from within the university community, but also from the general public. More than 100 entries were submitted, showcasing creative perspectives and a deep passion and interest in Kumamoto University. The Grand Prix was awarded to Mr. Kentaro Yoshimoto for his work, The Light of Knowledge Desk (“知の光卓”).

At the ceremony, 12 prize recipients attended in person to receive their certificates from Executive Vice President Toyofumi Mizumoto, Director of the Kumamoto University Campus Museum. Following the presentation, a social gathering was held where participants viewed the exhibited photographs together. The awardees shared the stories behind their works, including the inspiration, intention, and techniques used during shooting. These exchanges created a warm and engaging atmosphere, offering an inspiring opportunity to appreciate new perspectives through photography.
Currently, 15 award-winning works are on display in the 2nd-floor exhibition room of the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School. We warmly invite you to visit and enjoy these remarkable photographs.
