Mandarin Trial Lessons Held at the “Tsunagaru Festa”

On November 29 and 30, 2025, the UAAT-KOOU Mandarin Education Center, based on the Kumamoto University campus, offered Mandarin trial lessons at the Tsunagaru Festa held by Kumamoto City at the Kumamoto City International Center.

Over the two days, more than 40 people participated, making the event lively and well-attended.

Participants tried basic self-introductions, pronunciation practice, and pair activities in Mandarin. Although many found the unique tones challenging, the lessons were filled with laughter and warm interactions, with participants encouraging one another throughout the sessions.

We received many positive comments such as:
“It was so much fun—I want to learn more!”
“It was difficult but interesting. I want to keep trying the pronunciation!”

The experience highlighted the strong interest in Mandarin and culture in Taiwan within the Kumamoto community. The UAAT-KOOU Mandarin Education Center will keep providing accessible opportunities for anyone wishing to experience and enjoy Mandarin, while Kumamoto University remains committed to walking alongside the local community and fostering international connections.
