The 5th Kumadai-Hub Poster Session Was Held
On November 26, the 5th Kumadai-Hub Poster Session took place at the 100th Anniversary Hall. The event attracted more than 130 participants, including faculty members, staff, and students from Kumamoto University, as well as representatives from industry, the Kumamoto government, and local senior high schools. Notably, this year’s session welcomed presenters joining from Airlangga University in Indonesia—one of Kumamoto University’s partner universities—who shared their research through posters, adding an international dimension to the event. Participants from various countries contributed to a diverse and vibrant atmosphere, fostering meaningful exchange. The session opened with a special live performance featuring instruments equipped with semi-automatic robotic technology, presented in collaboration with members of the Kumamoto University Brass Band. This performance not only showcased cutting-edge musical robotics but also created a relaxed and welcoming environment for the subsequent discussions and networking.
The poster session itself included presentations where researchers explained their work directly in front of their posters. In addition, selected presenters delivered one-minute oral presentations to highlight their research. A total of 28 posters were presented, covering a wide range of topics from life sciences to social sciences, spanning basic laboratory research to applied technologies contributed by corporations. The variety ensured a rich interdisciplinary exchange. A special booth also allowed participants to observe the chick embryo’s heart and surrounding blood vessels under a microscope, bringing science closer to everyday experience.
With support from Kumamoto Prefecture and the Kumamoto City Board of Education, and efforts from all Kuamdai-Hub members, this year’s poster session was was one of the largest held in recent years. Since its launch in 2019, Kumadai-Hub has been committed to bringing together researchers and individuals engaged in research—regardless of status or title—to share fresh ideas freely across campuses and disciplines. The Kumadai-Hub aims to provide an open platform for collaboration, with the potential to spark interdisciplinary fusion and future joint research projects.
