Montana State University Delegation Visits Kumamoto University
On November 17, 2025, a delegation of three representatives from Montana State University (MSU), USA, led by Dr. Sally Mudiamu, Dean for Global Engagement and International Programs, paid a courtesy visit to Kumamoto University. The delegation met with Executive Vice President Jun Otani, Lecturer Lander Sims (Special Assistant to the President), and Prof. Hirotaka Yamazaki (Graduate School of Education) to discuss strengthening future collaboration in research and student exchange.
In March 2026, a group of 44 MSU students is scheduled to visit Kumamoto to perform in a joint orchestra concert with the Kumamoto University Philharmonic Orchestra Club. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students from both universities to engage in international interaction through music. During this visit, Prof. Yamazaki and the MSU representatives also held a planning meeting to work out the details for this event.
Kumamoto University and Montana State University have maintained an active partnership since signing an inter-university exchange agreement in 1987. Over the years, the two institutions have collaborated through joint research, student mobility, and language training programs. This visit served as a valuable opportunity to further deepen the longstanding relationship between the two universities.
