Professor Takumi Matsunaga Delivered a Lecture and Organized a Photo Exhibition at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan
Professor Takumi Matsunaga, Special Advisor to the President (in charge of the Campus Museum) at Kumamoto University, participated in “The 2025 Seminar on University and Institutional History” held at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, from November 6 to 7, 2025.The international seminar brought together experts and museum professionals from 45 universities and institutions to discuss the preservation and utilization of historical and cultural resources.
Prof. Matsunaga delivered a keynote lecture titled “The Kumamoto University Campus Museum: An Initiative of the University’s Efforts in Art and Culture.” He introduced the university’s initiatives to preserve architectural and cultural heritage from its predecessor, the Fifth High School, and to promote art and culture within the university the local community. He also emphasized the important role of university museums in transmitting academic heritage to future generations.
In conjunction with the lecture, Prof. Matsunaga organized a photo exhibition titled “Kumamoto University Photo Exhibition: From the Fifth High School Era to Today,” featuring 24 photographs that trace the university’s long and rich history. The exhibition was later donated to NCKU as a symbol of friendship and continued collaboration between the two universities.
Kumamoto University and NCKU have long collaborated in engineering and semiconductor research, and this cultural exchange further deepened their partnership.
The Organization for Kumamoto University Campus Museum will continue to promote the history and culture of the university through exchanges and collaborations with university museums in Japan and abroad.
