High-Level Meeting with Five Major National Universities in Taiwan

On July 15, 2025, Kumamoto University held a high-level meeting with five major national universities from Taiwan at Hotel Nikko Kumamoto.
 
Attendees included the presidents and vice presidents from National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and National Cheng Kung University. President Hisao Ogawa and other executives represented Kumamoto University.
 
Following introductions and a welcome address by President Ogawa, Executive Vice President Jun Otani explained the objectives of the meeting. Active discussions were held on potential collaborations, particularly in the fields of semiconductors, medical science, and disaster prevention.
 
Each university presented specific initiatives, such as partnerships with TSMC, AI-semiconductor integration, SDGs-related research, and student exchange programs, including NTNU’s upcoming visit to Kumamoto in August 2025.
 
A closed-door session provided an opportunity for more candid and in-depth exchanges, helping to build mutual trust and further cooperation.
