UAAT–KOOU Mandarin Education Center Officially Opens
On July 15, 2025, the unveiling ceremony of the UAAT–KOOU Mandarin Education Center was held at Kumamoto University’s Multilingual and Multicultural Education Building. The event marked a significant milestone in advancing educational and cultural collaboration between Taiwan and Japan, with 18 participants from Taiwan and 10 from Japan in attendance.The ceremony was opened by Professor Ming-Hsuan Lee, Vice President for International Affairs at National Sun Yat-sen University, who served as the moderator. The event began with a welcome address by President Chih-Peng Lee of National Sun Yat-sen University, followed by a video message from the Minister of Education of Taiwan.
Distinguished guests included Director Yu-Chuan Lee from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, Director Ming-Chun Chen of the Fukuoka Branch, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, and President Hisao Ogawa of Kumamoto University. Each delivered congratulatory remarks, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration through Mandarin education.
Following the speeches, a commemorative group photo was taken, and the unveiling of the UAAT-KOOU Mandarin Education Center was conducted. A reception was then held, where participants engaged in warm and friendly discussions, further strengthening mutual understanding.
The newly established center is expected to deepen educational and research collaboration between universities in the KOOU consortium, including Kumamoto University, and those in Taiwan’s UAAT (University Alliance of Advanced Technologies), including National Sun Yat-sen University. In addition to fostering student and faculty exchanges, the center aims to generate broader impact through partnerships with local communities and industry.
