Global Kitchen: A Taste of American Cuisine at Kumamoto University
On July 4th, 24 students gathered at the lounge of the Center for International Education for a culinary journey like no other. This was the second event of the “Global Kitchen” series this academic year, and it was all about experiencing the rich flavors of American cuisine. The event was led by Kumamoto University’s international students, Mr. Barrett Clement and Mr. Nolan Wellman, who took on the role of chefs for the day. With an overwhelming number of participants, the two chefs prepared an abundant spread, featuring bread, sausages, and a variety of classic American ingredients, ensuring the participants had an authentic taste of U.S. food culture.
After brief self-introductions, the chefs began cooking up modified versions of classic American dishes like hamburgers, hot dogs, and S’mores. These delicious offerings quickly became the center of lively conversation and cultural exchange. Students from diverse backgrounds engaged in animated discussions, all while enjoying the mouthwatering food prepared by their peers.
This event not only offered a unique culinary experience but also fostered a sense of community, where students could bond over their shared love for food and explore different cultures.
Stay tuned for more exciting events in the “Global Kitchen” series, where the world comes together through food!
