Coutesy Visit by Guangxi Medical University, China

On May 20, a delegation of six members from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Guangxi Medical University (China), led by Mr. Wen Qiulin, Party Secretary-General of the School of Pharmacy, paid a courtesy visit to the School of Pharmacy at Kumamoto University. They engaged in discussions with Dean Hiroshi Katsuki of the School of Pharmacy and Vice Dean Yukihiko Sugimoto of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

This visit was based on the ongoing inter-university exchange agreement between Guangxi Medical University and Kumamoto University. At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Katsuki welcomed the delegation. Following the introduction of recent initiatives at both universities, the participants exchanged views on student and faculty exchanges.

After the meeting, Professor Sachiko Tsukamoto from the Department of Natural Medicines gave the delegation a tour of her laboratory. Assistant Professor Hari Devkota then guided the delegation through the Medicinal Plant Garden and the Museum of Traditional Medicine. Additionally, he introduced the “Recreated*” artworks of Johannes Vermeer displayed in the Industrial Innovation Laboratory, showcasing the university's vision of a campus where "art and science coexist."

This visit provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen future collaboration between the two universities.

*Recreated: The process of digitally restoring aged and damaged paintings. Using advanced technology, the artwork is restored to its original size, with a focus on reviving its colors and textures for a clearer, high-quality version.
