Courtesy Visit by Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa
On May 21st, Mr. Ghaleeb Jeppie, Minister Counsellor for Science, Innovation, and Education at the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, paid a courtesy visit to Kumamoto University. He was accompanied by Mr. Daisuke Tanaka, Liaison Officer for Science and Technology. The delegation was warmly received by Executive Vice President Jun Otani.
During the meeting, both parties shared perspectives on the challenges and opportunities related to globalization in higher education. They exchanged views on how to enhance student exchange and academic collaboration. Building upon existing cooperative frameworks, the participants expressed a shared commitment to further strengthening ties through the promotion of researcher exchanges and exploration of potential collaborative research fields.
This visit served to deepen mutual understanding and laid the foundation for expanded academic and scientific cooperation between Kumamoto University and institutions in the Republic of South Africa.
