U.S. Consulate Fukuoka’s Public Affairs Officer Visited Kumamoto University for Exchange with Students
On May 13, 2025, Mr. Strader Payton, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Fukuoka, visited the School of Informatics (Sinf) at Kumamoto University for an exchange session with students.
The meeting was held in D-Square, a newly completed academic building that houses lecture rooms for the School of Informatics. Sixteen students who participated in last year's short-term study abroad program at the University of North Texas (UNT) welcomed Mr. Payton and engaged in lively discussions.
The exchange centered around the students’ experiences in the United States, including what they learned during their time at UNT and how their perspectives and campus life have changed since returning. The conversation also expanded to cover a variety of topics such as their specialized studies in the School of Informatics program, their lives as second-year university students, and broader discussions about life and work in the U.S.
This visit offered students a valuable opportunity to reflect on their international experiences and deepen their understanding of American culture and society through direct dialogue with a U.S. diplomat.
