Courtesy Visit by Representatives of the Embassy of France, Tokyo
On April 21, 2025, a delegation from the Embassy of France in Tokyo paid a courtesy visit to President Hisao Ogawa of Kumamoto University. The delegation consisted of three representatives: Prof. Didier Marty-Dessus, Science and Technology Counsellor; Dr. Jean-Baptiste Bordes, Science and Technology Officer; and Mr. Aymeric Tardy, Project Manager of the Science and Technology Department. The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of Kumamoto University’s initiatives in human resource development in the semiconductor field and to explore possibilities for future collaboration.Executive Vice President Jun Otani also attended the meeting and provided an overview of the university’s core initiatives and areas of focus. Prof. Marty-Dessus expressed his high regard for Kumamoto University’s leading role in developing semiconductor-related talent. He also conveyed interest in identifying potential complementary partnerships to strengthen collaboration in the semiconductor sector, so that both parties can leverage their strengths and collaboratively contribute to the advancement of the semiconductor industry.
Following the meeting, the delegation engaged in further discussions with Professor Sadahiro Tsurekawa and Distinguished Professor Masahiro Aoyagi from the Research and Education Institute for Semiconductors and Informatics. They exchanged ideas on current and future education strategies to cultivate human resources in the semiconductor field, including support for students pursuing academic or industry careers.
The visit concluded with a tour of the university’s cleanroom, where the delegation observed the research and training environment designed to foster the next generation of semiconductor professionals.
