2024 Graduation Ceremony Was Held

On March 25, 2025, Kumamoto University held its 2024 Graduation Ceremony at the Kumamoto Prefectural Theater. This year, a total of 2,340 students took their first steps toward new horizons, including 1,651 undergraduate students, 613 graduate students, 23 students from the Graduate School of Education (Professional Graduate School), and 53 students from Diploma Course and Special Course.

The ceremony was livestreamed online, allowing family and friends to celebrate this milestone from afar. In addition, Kumamoto University’s Student Support Club provided real-time captioning, displaying subtitles on a large screen to ensure accessibility for all attendees.

Following the address by President Hisao Ogawa, representatives from the student body delivered heartfelt speeches. Mr. Yutaka Kitasato from the School of Pharmacy pledged to carry forward the traditions built by past graduates while striving for regional and global contributions. Ms. Azumi Yoshida from the Faculty of Education expressed her determination to navigate an uncertain future, drawing strength from the knowledge and experiences gained at Kumamoto University to make a meaningful impact on society.

To conclude the ceremony on a celebratory note, the Kumamoto University Philharmonic Orchestra performed two iconic pieces—Pomp and Circumstance Marches and Radetzky March—creating a moment of joy and unity for all in attendance.
