International Student Achievement Presentation Sponsored by the Kumamoto Student Exchanges Promotion Conference

On Saturday, February 18th, 2012, the Kumamoto Student Exchanges Promotion Conference sponsored an International Student Achievement Presentation held on the 2nd floor of the Kumamoto International Center.
This project was held for the first time this year to give international students the opportunity to interact with local residents. In the first part of the meeting, international students studying in Kumamoto gave presentations in Japanese about their studies and research results. In the second part of the meeting, Japanese students and international students who joined the “Kumamoto Saruku” program sponsored by the Kumamoto International Convention and Tourism Bureau, on February 18th, 2011, gave presentations in Japanese on the outcome of their experiences.
The “Kumamoto Saruku” program involves volunteer guides guiding Japanese students and international students around sightseeing attractions in Kumamoto.  The latest event started at 10am on April 18th, with groups visiting Kumamoto Castle, the Shinmachi area, and Lake Ezuko and consisted of two hour walking tours of each location.
The first part of the meeting began at 1pm with Mr. Kim Tae woong and Ms. Chan Hyeon ji presenting the final studies and research reports of their exchange programs. Mr. Kim Tae woong presented on Kumamoto University students' use of bicycles, while Ms. Chan Hyeon ji gave a presentation on the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. The presentations garnered many questions from participants during the Q&A session.
The second part of the meeting featured final presentations on the “Kumamoto Saruku” program. In total, 41 students from universities and technical colleges as well as international students from 12 countries gave team presentations in Japanese.  These presentations were judged by Kumamoto City Officials and University Instructors.   The Award of Excellence was awarded to the team that toured around Kumamoto Castle.  The international students cheered at receiving prizes from the chairman of the meeting, President Taniguchi.
