2021 JOINT SYMPOSIUM SixERS and UST
On December 16, Kumamoto University participated in the “2021 SixERS and UST JOINT SYMPOSIUM.”This is the first time the event has been held since SixERS*1 and UST*2 concluded an MoU.
From Kumamoto University, Trustee and Vice-President for International Affairs OTANI Jun and Deputy Vice-president for International Affairs KISHIDA Mitsuyo participated in this event.
This event comprised sessions in four separate research fields, namely Medicine & Life Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Interdisciplinary Studies & More, and Social Sciences. Twenty speakers from ten universities delivered lectures on the theme of “Aging Population.”
As speakers from Kumamoto University, Assoc. Prof. MIURA Kyoko, from the Faculty of Life Sciences, gave a presentation titled “Investigation of the mechanisms underlying longevity and cancer-resistance in the longest-lived rodent, the naked mole-rat.” Also, Assoc. Prof. ISHIHARA Akiko, of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented on “Living with dementia: Transforming our conflicts with dementia and its shadow.”
We hope that this event will lead to further exchanges between UST and SixERS partner universities.
