Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) pays a courtesy visit to President Harada
On July 8, 2016, Prof. Dr. Oliver Kraft, Vice President (Research) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany paid a courtesy visit to Kumamoto University President Shinji Harada.
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, founded in 1825, is the oldest Technical University in Germany, and is located in Baden-Württemberg. It is recognized as one of the top level universities in the engineering field in Germany and ranks in the top 100 in the world university rankings.
Prof. Kraft, who took up the post of Vice President in January 2016, is known as a leading authority on the mechanical properties evaluation of nano / micro material, and this visit was made to accelerate the "Program for Advancing Strategic International Networks to Accelerate the Circulation of Talented Researchers (Project Title: Establishment of Green Materials International Network on Innovative Magnesium Alloys Design) " supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. During his visit, Vice President Kraft also met with Professor Tsuyoshi Usagawa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering / Advanced Science and Technology and Graduate School of Science and Technology, and gave training guidance for students in related fields.
President Harada and Vice President Kraft exchanged views on the possibility of future academic and student exchange, and the courtesy call ended on a good note.
In the wake of this visit, further exchanges between the two universities are expected.
