Delegation from Chang Jung Christian University and Changhua Christian Hospital Visits Kumamoto University
On July 3, 2026, a high-level delegation from Taiwan, led by Dr. Hsin-Liang Chen, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), and Prof. Mu-Kuan Chen, Superintendent of Changhua Christian Hospital, one of Taiwan's largest medical groups, paid a courtesy call on Kumamoto University President Hisao Ogawa. The delegation also included representatives from the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and Taiwan Church News.This visit built on the university-wide academic exchange agreement concluded between Kumamoto University and CJCU in 2016. Building upon the long-standing student and faculty exchanges between the two universities, the visit aimed to explore opportunities to expand collaboration into the fields of medicine and healthcare.
During the meeting, President Ogawa introduced Kumamoto University's recent initiatives and its active partnerships with Taiwanese institutions. The delegation, in turn, presented the educational and research activities jointly undertaken by CJCU and Changhua Christian Hospital. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to further strengthen ties between Kumamoto University and Taiwanese universities and medical institutions.
Following the courtesy call, the delegation visited Kumamoto University Hospital and met with Vice Director Yasuhito Tanaka and other hospital representatives.
Vice Director Tanaka welcomed the delegation and introduced the hospital representatives. The participants exchanged views on medical education, human resource development, research activities, and responses to the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The delegation then toured the Comprehensive Clinical Education, Training and Development Center, where they had the opportunity to experience advanced training equipment, including robotic surgery and endoscopic simulators.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to broaden the scope of cooperation among the participating institutions and to explore future possibilities for collaboration in the fields of medicine and healthcare.
