Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Japan Visits Kumamoto University
On June 30, 2026, H.E. Mr. ONG Eng Chuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Japan, visited Kumamoto University.
During his visit, Ambassador Ong paid a courtesy call on Executive Vice President Jun Otani, and they exchanged views on the University's overview, its partnerships with universities in Taiwan, and the development of an international semiconductor education network.
Afterward, Vice Director Sadahiro Tsurekawa of the Research and Education Institute for Semiconductors and Informatics (REISI), Prof. Mitsuyo Kishida of REISI, and Prof. Toshihiro Ihara, Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, introduced Kumamoto University’s initiatives for cultivating semiconductor researchers and engineers. Prof. Keisuke Yamamoto of REISI then presented the university’s efforts in cleanroom education and practical technical training. The delegation subsequently toured the Semiconductor Process Training Laboratory.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Ambassador and his delegation to be introduced to Kumamoto University's educational and research activities in the semiconductor field, as well as its efforts to foster globally minded semiconductor professionals.
Kumamoto University will continue to promote the development of internationally competitive semiconductor talent and strengthen global research and education networks through collaboration with industry, government agencies, and overseas universities and research institutions.
