National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Holds University Information Session at Kumamoto University
On June 22, Kumamoto University hosted a university information session presented by Associate Professor Josh Tsun-Hua Yang, Head of International Collaboration at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), one of Kumamoto University's partner institutions in Taiwan. Approximately 40 students and faculty members from Kumamoto University attended the session, gaining insights into NYCU's academic strengths, research activities, and study opportunities.Kumamoto University is currently hosting a one-week STEM training program for students from NYCU. During their stay, the students participate in STEM-related lectures, laboratory visits, and Japanese language classes, as well as cultural activities such as field trips to the Aso region. The information session was organized with the cooperation of NYCU representatives visiting Kumamoto University as part of this program.
During the session, Associate Professor Yang introduced the university's educational and research activities. NYCU is a comprehensive research university consisting of 19 colleges and is internationally recognized for its excellence in semiconductor education and research. He also highlighted the university's focus on Future Medicine, an interdisciplinary initiative that integrates medicine, engineering, and life sciences, as well as its flexible educational programs that encourage students to develop knowledge and perspectives across multiple disciplines.
The session also provided information on scholarships, research support, career services, and other resources available to international students, demonstrating NYCU's commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive international learning environment.
During the Q&A session, participants from Kumamoto University showed strong interest in learning more about studying and conducting research at NYCU and asked questions about student housing, startup support programs, and scholarship opportunities.
The session concluded with a message welcoming students from around the world and encouraging greater participation in international study and research opportunities.
This event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of higher education and research in Taiwan while further strengthening the partnership between Kumamoto University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
