National Tsing Hua University Delegation Visits Kumamoto University to Strengthen Academic and Student Exchange
On May 28, 2026, Dr. Cheng-Yao Lo, Professor of the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering and Associate Vice President of the Office of Global Affairs at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, visited Kumamoto University. Dr. Lo was accompanied by a student representative from India.
The NTHU delegation was welcomed by Dr. Jun Otani, Executive Vice President of Kumamoto University, and Professor Mitsuyo Kishida from the Research and Education Institute for Semiconductors and Informatics (REISI), alongside two University Research Administrators (URAs).
During the meeting, both institutions engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the promotion of student mobility and initiatives designed to encourage students to pursue study abroad opportunities. Dr. Lo’s accompanying student actively participated in the dialogue, providing valuable student-perspective insights that will highly inform future planning. In addition to student exchange, both sides expressed a strong interest in expanding mobility programs to university staff, including URAs. The participants confirmed their shared institutional needs and committed to developing practical exchange plans moving forward. Furthermore, both universities recognized the critical importance of collaborative investigations and expressed high hopes for expanding joint research possibilities in the near future.
National Tsing Hua University remains a vital strategic partner for Kumamoto University in Taiwan. Moving forward, Kumamoto University will continue to broaden and deepen this meaningful collaboration.
