Courtesy Visit from Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, Taiwan

On May 13, 2026, a delegation from Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, led by President Tzu-Hsiang Ko, visited Kumamoto University and held courtesy meetings and discussions on semiconductor education with President Hisao Ogawa and other university representatives.

During the courtesy visit, the participants reflected on previous exchanges, including the university’s visit to Kumamoto University in November last year and the participation of Executive Vice President Jun Otani in a symposium held at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology in December. The delegation also introduced the university’s initiatives in international collaboration and industry-academia cooperation.

Following the courtesy visit, discussions were held with Kumamoto University faculty members on educational and student exchange opportunities in the semiconductor field. Lunghwa University of Science and Technology has strengths in technical education and strong partnerships with companies such as TSMC and ASE Technology. The participants discussed the possibility of providing enhanced educational opportunities for students by combining these strengths with Kumamoto University’s research capabilities. Both universities plan to explore concrete collaboration through a departmental-level exchange agreement, student exchange programs, and internships.
