TSMC Charity Foundation, Kumamoto University, and Kikuyo Town Sign Agreement on Collaboration in the Medical Field

On April 17, 2025, an agreement signing ceremony for collaboration in the medical field was held at the Kikuyo Town Hall, between the TSMC Charity Foundation, Kumamoto University, and Kikuyo Town.

This event is part of the “Kumamoto-TSMC Healthy Longevity Project,” which was launched at Kumamoto University in July, 2024. The aim of the event is to establish a strong collaborative partnership among the three parties—TSMC Charity Foundation, Kumamoto University, and Kikuyo Town—in order to promote initiatives for community health and longevity in Kikuyo Town.

The event began with a demonstration of exercise support. During the demonstration, which took place in a studio, Sophie Chang, Chairperson of the TSMC Charity Foundation, joined the participants from Kikuyo Town and actively engaged in the exercises with a smile. Following the demonstration, a commemorative photo session took place, with the appearance of "Caroppy (キャロッピー)", the beloved mascot from Kikuyo Town, who brought an added touch of warmth and charm to the event.

At the signing ceremony, an overview of the project was presented by Executive Vice President Tomizawa of Kumamoto University and Professor Yamagata, Director of Center for Metabolic Regulation of Healthy Aging. Following the presentations, greetings were delivered by Chair Chang, President Ogawa of Kumamoto University, and Mayor Yoshimoto of Kikuyo Town. The three parties then signed the agreement, committing to strengthen medical collaboration and enhance the health promotion of local residents.

After the event, a press session was held, with Executive Vice President Tomizawa and Director Yamagata responding to questions from the press. Specific details about the future development of the project were shared, and many media outlets asked insightful questions.

This collaboration agreement marks an important step towards further strengthening the relationship among the three parties and is highly anticipated to lead to the continued progress of the project.
