Message from President Ogawa Regarding the Earthquakes in Myanmar

We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the powerful earthquakes that struck Myanmar on March 28, also affecting Thailand. On behalf of the entire Kumamoto University community, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.
 
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this devastating event. We also express our deepest respect and gratitude to those who are courageously engaged in the rescue and relief efforts.
 
Many members of our Kumamoto University community have close ties to the affected region, including current and former international students, colleagues’ families, and research partners. We are deeply concerned for their safety and well-being.
 
Please know that Kumamoto University stands in full solidarity with all those affected during this difficult time.
 
We pray for the safety and well-being of all those suffering as a result of this disaster and sincerely hope for a swift recovery and the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
