Courtesy Visit by NTU College of Medicine Dean Yen-Hsuan Ni
On July 25th, 2024, Professor Yen-Hsuan Ni, Dean of the National Taiwan University (NTU) College of Medicine, and his colleagues paid a courtesy visit to Kumamoto University (KU), where they held a meeting with President Hisao Ogawa, Executive Vice-President Jun Otani, Executive Vice-President Kazuhito Tomizawa, Vice Director of International Research Center for Medical Sciences (IRCMS) Yuichiro Arima and Professor Guojun Sheng (IRCMS). The NTU delegation included Professor Ruby Huang, Associate Professor Su-Yi Tsai, and Assistant Professor Jian-Da Lin. Professor Huang is currently a visiting professor at IRCMS at KU and co-hosted the 23rd IRCMS Symposium: Kumamoto University-National Taiwan University Joint Symposium on Biomedical Research, alongside Professor Guojun Sheng (IRCMS). Members of the NTU delegation also presented at the symposium.During the visit, President Ogawa and Dean Ni expressed their enthusiasm for expanding collaboration between the two universities, particularly in integrating biomedical research with cutting-edge technologies such as AI and semiconductors. President Ogawa emphasized the importance of internationalization for achieving long-term development and high-level research outcomes. He expressed hope for increased researcher mobility between the two universities, following the example set by Professor Huang.
Following the courtesy visit, the delegation toured the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School, an Important Cultural Property located on KU's Kurokami Campus, enriching their understanding of each university’s cultural heritage.
