Appointment Letter Was Presented to Kumamoto University Liaison Professor Tolga Ozsen (Turkey)

On July 2nd, a Letter of Appointment was presented to Prof. Tolga Ozsen making his appointment as Kumamoto University Liaison Professor from July 2024. Prof. Ozsen, who earned his Ph.D. in Graduate of Social and Cultural Sciences from Kumamoto University (KU), is currently the head of Japanese Language Teaching Department at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Turkey. As an alumnus, Prof. Ozsen expressed his commitment to continuously promoting collaboration and communication between Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and KU, as well as fostering ties between Turkey and Japan.
 
The appointment letter was presented by Executive Vice President Jun Otani in a classroom, where a Sociology Seminar was set to take place. Led be Prof. Ozsen, six students from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University participated in the seminar, delivered presentations, and engaged in discussions with Kumamoto University students. Following the seminar, a welcome party was held to facilitate deeper communication, networking opportunities and cultural exchanges.
 
The Kumamoto University Liaison Professor Scheme was launched in FY2023 as part of its globalization strategy, with the aim of building and strengthening international networks. The title of “Kumamoto University Liaison Professor” is conferred upon alumni of KU, former faculty members and researchers, and others who have made great contributions to the internationalization of KU in terms of education and research. Prof. Ozsen’s appointment is expected to strengthen connections with Turkish universities, and enhance KU’s presence in Turkey.
