U.S. Embassy Minister for Public Affairs Courtesy Call to President Ogawa

Mr. Philip Roskamp, Minister for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Japan, paid a courtesy call to President Hisao Ogawa on November 29th 2022. Mr. Jun Otani, Trustee and Vice President for Research and Global Strategy, and Mr. Hironori Ito, Vice President for Global Education and Legal Affairs, also attended the meeting.
 
The participants engaged in a friendly exchange of opinions on topics, such as the promotion of student/research exchanges between Kumamoto University (KU) and U.S. institutions, and methods for improving the English language skills of Japanese university students. As a diplomat with extensive experience working at embassies around the world, Mr. Roskamp provided valuable opinions and suggestions on how to improve student language skills.
 
Building upon this courtesy call, the university intends to promote further exchanges between KU and U.S. universities and research institutions. New efforts are on the way to support global education at KU.
