Trustee pays a courtesy call on Riga Technical University (Latvia)
On February 5th, 2020, Prof. FURUSHIMA Mikio, Trustee and Vice President of Kumamoto University (KU), paid a courtesy call on Prof. Igors Tipans, Deputy Rector of International Academic Cooperation and Studies, Riga Technical University (RTU).
RTU, founded in 1862, is the oldest technical university in the Baltic States and has produced eminent alumni, including Friedrich Wilhelm Ostwald (1909 Nobel Prize in Chemistry).
Since concluding an academic and student exchange agreement between universities in 2018, RTU has become a popular university for overseas study trips for our students.
During this visit, the representatives of the two universities shared their views and opinions on the short-term student exchange program for RTU students. It is hoped that further exchanges between our two universities will flourish as a result of this visit.
