The 2nd KU-KAIST Joint Symposium (The 4th IRCMS & IROAST Joint Seminar ) on January 25, 2019 at Kumamoto

The 2nd KU-KAIST Joint Symposium was held on January 25th at Kumamoto City Medical Association Hall, Kumamoto.
The symposium was jointly organized by KAIST and Kumamoto University (KU), followed the first one held on October 22, 2018 at KAIST, Deajeon, Korea. This symposium was also held as the 4th IRCMS & IROAST Joint Seminar (IRCMS: The International Research Center for Medical Sciences, Kumamoto University; IROAST: The International Research Organization for Advanced Science and Technology, Kumamoto University.)
 
The symposium theme was “Integrating basic and translational biomedical research”.  Followed by opening remarks by KU President Shinji Harada, 10 researchers from KU and 5 researchers from KAIST gave talks in their state-of-the-art researches in the four sessions of “Genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in disease”, “Metabolism and cancer”, “Stem cell and cardiovascular biology” and “Cutting-edge technology”. Approximately 80 participants exchanged their views and opinions on the theme. Prof. Yong-Mahn Han, the Dean of College of Life Science & Bioengineering, KAIST gave a closing remarks and the symposium closed successfully.
 
The next 3rd symposium will be scheduled in AY2019.
