Party for International Students at Kumamoto University

A party for international students currently studying at Kumamoto University was held at the South Campus Student Union on Kumamoto University’s Kurokami South Campus on Wednesday, December 16.  The party hosted 150 attendees, including University President Shinji Harada, along with international students, their tutors, teaching staff, and various community organizations that support them (Kumamoto YWCA, the North Kumamoto Police Department, the Contemporary Japanese Dress Volunteer Group, the Kumamoto University International Exchange Support Volunteer Group , and Discovery Kumamoto NPO Volunteer Association).

At the party, an international student from China, currently studying in the School of Law, gave an address to the president, and performances were given by Chinese and Lao international students showcasing aspects of their traditional cultures.  Also, the Kumamoto University International Exchange Support Volunteer Group (VOGIES) organized a raffle, which awarded prizes to every international student who attended the party.

Through this party, Kumamoto University’s international students were able to enjoy communicating with and deepening their relationships with the people who support their lives in Japan.
