Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to Japan paid a courtesy visit to President Taniguchi

   His Excellency Mr. François OUBIDA, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to Japan visited Kumamoto University on July 12, 2014.
   Ambassador Oubida came to Kumamoto to attend the “22nd Day of the African Child in Kumamoto―Let’s learn more about Africa… and Japan” an event held from July 11 to 13 organized by Kumamoto Association for UNICEF, and paid a courtesy visit to President Taniguchi, who also serves as the chairman of the Association.
   On the day of the courtesy visit, after a study tour led by Vice President Ihara for International Affairs at the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School and other facilities, at a meeting held in a friendly atmosphere between the ambassador and the president and vice president, they confirmed their common will to continuously develop exchanges between Kumamoto University and Burkina Faso.
   After that, at a different venue, the President of Kumamoto University gave a lecture to introduce the attractiveness of and distinctive efforts by Kumamoto University under the title, “Introduction of Kumamoto and Kumamoto University (KU) as a Global-Oriented University.” Approximately 80 Burkina Faso and other international students, having gathered from around Japan, deepened their interest in our university and Kumamoto.
The "Day of the African Child" event is held annually, and is expected to contribute to the further development of exchanges between the African regions and Kumamoto University in the future.
