Organization for Kumamoto University Campus Museum

Kumamoto University has the four important cultural property buildings, including the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School, the collection features Hosokawa Clan literature (partial) related to the Hosokawa Clan daimyo of the Kumamoto Domain, which are entrusted materials from the Eisei Bunko Foundation, as well as Aso Clan literature, both of which are significant historical materials. The Higo Iiku Museum introduces the history of medical education in Higo, a province that produced figures such as Kitasato Shibasaburo, while the Medicinal Plant Garden protects and nurtures rare plants. Meanwhile, the Kumayaku Museum, which exhibits pharmacy-related materials, is spread across various campus locations.
The Organization for Kumamoto University Cmpus Museum was established in April 2024 with the aim of tranforming the entire campus into a museum through university-wide collaboration, integrating historical and cultural exhibition materials and facilities owned by each campus. In addition to contributing to the development of human resources and the promotin of research, the organization aims to promote understanding and learning of the history, culture, and traditions of people around the world by disseminating information both domestically and internationally as an open university.
