International Exchange: Voices of International Students

International student from China

A year has already passed since I entered the Faculty of Law of Kumamoto University to learn more about Japanese society. I feel that the time has passed so fast! Now I have many memories, and I can remember each one of them very clearly.

When I started my life here, I had many concerns, such as whether I could follow the classes, choose a curriculum properly and get along with Japanese students. However, I noticed that all my worries were gone after just one month. There is a personal tutor system in place in Kumamoto University, and one tutor is available for each international student. They offer us living support as well as study support when we need it, and I was able to get used to the campus life in Kumamoto, where I originally had no friends or acquaintances at all.

Through parties for international students and other various events, I have come to interact with international students from other countries, not to mention Japanese students. What I especially enjoyed and found meaningful was a field trip that focused on student exchanges. In addition to international exchanges, Kumamoto University is the right place for study – the right place for me to strive to attain my dream. A well-developed curriculum and lectures covering a wide range of fields allow students to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge as well as expertise. The professors explain things in clearly understandable terms. Students can feel free to ask them questions during the question time called 'office hours,' allocated as part of the student support effort. To those who wish to enter a university, I urge you to come to Kumamoto University and deepen international exchanges with us together. You can even become a tutor yourself. I strongly recommend Kumamoto University for those of you who wish to develop and grow.
