Prof. Kenji Furukawa, Vice President, visits Beijing University of Technology for the 50th Anniversary Celebration and International Presidential Forum (October 15-16)

As part of the 50th year of its establishment, Beijing University of Technology (China) organized the 50th Anniversary Celebration and the International Presidential Forum at Beijing during October 15-16, 2010. Professor Kenji Furukawa, Vice President, represented our University at the ceremony and participated in the events.
The International presidential Forum was held on October 15, within the campus of Beijing University of Technology. Presidents and Vice presidents of many universities from around the world, including Japan, US, France, The Netherlands, Ireland participated in the Forum. The theme of the Forum was “Universities’ Roles in Serving Regional Economic Development and Educating High-Quality & Innovative Students in a Globalized world”. Later during the panel discussion session, Prof Furukawa explained about the ongoing efforts towards globalization at Kumamoto University, and exchanged ideas with other panelists and participants on the topic. The 50th Anniversary Celebration was held on the next day, in the presence of guests and dignitaries, including Officials of Chinese Government, Presidents and Vice Presidents of many universities from within China and abroad, representatives from other collaborating universities, alumni and students of Beijing University of Technology.
 
Also, during the present visit, Prof Furukawa had a separate meeting with Prof Guo Guangsheng, President of Beijing University of Technology. At the meeting, the current progress and future scope of the academic exchanges between the two universities were reviewed and it was reconfirmed to further strengthen the collaboration in the coming days.
