Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Republic of the Sudan to Japan Visit Kumamoto University

On March 25, 2024, H.E. Mr. Ali Mohamed Ahmed Osman Mohamed, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Republic of the Sudan to Japan, and Dr. Naoyuki Kawahara, Director of the NPO Rocinantes, paid a courtesy call to President Hisao Ogawa. Also present were Dr. Jun Otani, Executive Vice President, Dr. Mitsuyo Kishida, Vice President, and Dr. Khaled Mohamed Elamin, Assistant Professor of the Global Center for Natural Resources Sciences.

Kumamoto University (KU) has established the Sudan Office since 2016, which serves as a central hub for information dissemination and networking to institutions in Sudan and neighboring countries. This visit was made possible by KU's close ties with Sudanese universities, mainly in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. During the meeting, President Ogawa welcomed the visitors, and the participants exchanged opinions on promoting education and research exchange with Sudanese universities and other institutions. Following the meeting, H.E. Mr. Ali and others moved to KU's Oe Campus, where the School of Pharmacy is located, to visit with Dr. Hiroshi Morioka, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, and faculties.

KU has concluded international exchange agreements with 14 universities in 9 African countries, including the University of Khartoum in Sudan.
