President Harada Attends Hue University’s 60th Anniversary

On March 3, 2017, Hue University in Vietnam, an overseas partner university of Kumamoto University, held a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of its founding. Kumamoto University President Shinji Harada attended.
 
Hue University is an interdisciplinary advanced education and research institution located in central Vietnam. It is a comprehensive university that covers a wide range of academic fields, composed of a College of Education, College of Sciences, College of Medicine and Pharmacy, College of Agriculture and Forestry, College of Arts, College of Economics, College of Foreign Languages, School of Physics Educatin and School of Hospitality and Tourism. Since the signing of an international exchange agreement in 2010, Kumamoto University and Hue University have been actively engaged in joint research and the exchange of researchers and students.
 
The ceremony was a grand affair, attended by the embassy officials of five countries (Australia, Belgium, France, Laos and Russia), officials from overseas partner universities from Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Japan, Thailand, China and Korea, faculty members and others, including former academic members and current students.
 
In the afternoon of the same day, President Harada visited the College of Medicine and Pharmacy and had a meeting with the rector. They discussed the future development of educational and research exchanges between the two universities and agreed to deepen the friendly relationship.
