Damage Report (as of 5pm, 26 April)

Damage Report regarding the Earthquake
 Information accurate as of 5:00pm, Tuesday, April 26th, 2016.
 
1. Casualties
3 students have reported minor injuries. The status of 6 students has not yet been confirmed and the verification process is in progress.
11 members of staff have reported minor injuries. The verification process of Part-Time Lecturers is in progress.
 
2. Material damage
Damage to some cultural properties including the Memorial Museum of the Fifth High School, the Chemical Laboratory of the Fifth High School and the Museum of the Engineering Faculty has been reported. Those buildings are presently out of use and their areas are off-limits.
An emergency danger assessment has also been implemented for university facilities. 7 buildings appear to have damaged and the safety assessment of the building is currently undergoing. 2 buildings are currently closed due to its safety problem. Also, an internal damage investigation has been implemented at all buildings.
Much laboratory equipment has suffered falling damage and the safety assessment is currently undergoing. The extent of the damage with regard to chemicals is still under investigation.
 
3. University Hospital
The University Hospital is treating patients as usual. However, due to structural damage, the hospital has had some difficulties in providing care.
 
4. Utilities
Electricity and water supply of all campuses is supplied. Gas supply has recovered across all campuses except in North Kurokami, South Kurokami, Kyo-machi, and Mashiki.
 
5. Evacuation Zones
The North Kurokami Campus Gymnasium and Oe gymnasium (School of Pharmacy) have been established as evacuation shelters, supported by student volunteers.
Other universities have been providing additional support.
 
Although aftershocks continue, we will strive to determine the extent of the damage and ensure the safety of our university.
