[a] Students who have difficulty paying the entrance fee by the payment deadline for economic reasons (excluding repayment of various loans and debts) and who have an excellent academic performance.
[b] Students who are recognized as having extreme difficulty in paying the entrance fee due to the death of a person who is paying school fees within one year prior to admission, or due to a person who is paying school fees or students themselves who have suffered damage from natural disaster in Japan within one year prior to admission.

[Note] The postponement of entrance fee is not a exemption, it only extends the deadline for payment of the entrance fee. Please note that you have to pay the entrance fee.

Application procedures

Students who wish to obtain permission to claim the exemption or postponement of the entrance fee must submit the following documents to the Economic Support Office, Student Life Division.
Please download the application guidebook, and submit the application documents by the deadline.

(1) Application Form for Exemption / Postponement of Entrance Fee
(2) Other necessary documents.

Application distribution period

The application distribution period varies depending on the announcement date of successful applicants. Please follow the procedures according to the Admission Procedures and Entrance Ceremony Guide.

Submission deadline

Please read the guidebook carefully, and submit the application documents by the deadline (October 1, 2021). Please purchase "Letter Pack Light" and mail it with all the completed application documents and the original certificates.

[Note] Applicants must be submitted in person (application by proxy will not be accepted). Any claim after the deadline will not be accepted.

Screening method

For students who have met academic performance criteria and household status criteria, we will prioritize students who are in great distress within the budget of the University.

* As exemptions are granted based on the University's budget, fulfilling academic performance criteria and household criteria does not guarantee the exemption.

How to check the selection result

Please check the Kumamoto University Academic Affairs Information System SOSEKI (http://uportal.kumamoto-u.ac.jp/) "Tuition Payment Status" by yourself. The results will be announced in late-June. You will be notified on the on-campus bulletin board that the results are announced.

Notes

Regarding the exemption results are "Not admitted" and "Half exemption", must pay the entrance fee within 2 weeks after the results is announced (scheduled from early- to mid- December).
Since the payment period is short, it is recommended that those who apply for entrance fee exemption also apply for a postponement.

If the entrance fee postponement is permitted, the deadline for payment is until January 31, 2022 (Monday), but if it is not permitted, you must make payment within two weeks after the results are announced.
For those who need to pay the entrance fee after the announcement, the transfer request form will be sent to the guarantor for undergraduate students, and to the students themselves for graduate students.
