Submission period

Please read the guidebook carefully. After completing the online application, submit the application documents during the submission period specified in the guidebook. Please purchase a "Letter Pack Light" and mail it with all the completed application documents and the original certificates. If you will be unable to enter Japan by the submission deadline, please refer to the application guidebook for further instructions.

[Note] Applications must be submitted in person (submissions by proxy will not be accepted). Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Screening method

Among students who meet the academic performance and household criteria, priority will be given to those with the greatest financial need within the budget of the university.

* As exemptions are granted based on the university's budget, meeting the academic performance and household criteria does not guarantee an exemption.

How to check the selection result

Please check the selection result on the Kumamoto University Academic Affairs Information System SOSEKI (https://uportal.kumamoto-u.ac.jp/) under "Tuition Payment Status." The announcement schedule is as follows.
Admission Fee Exemption/Postponement and Tuition Fee Exemption (first semester): late June (scheduled)
In addition, a notice will be posted on the on-campus bulletin board when the results are available.

Notes

If your admission fee exemption result is “Not approved” or "Half exemption," you must pay the admission fee within two weeks of the announcement of the results (scheduled for early to mid-July).
Since the payment period is short, we recommend that applicants for admission fee exemption also apply for admission fee postponement.

If the admission fee postponement is approved, the payment deadline will be September 30, 2026. If it is not approved, you must pay the admission fee within two weeks of the announcement of the results.
For those who need to pay the admission fee after the announcement, a transfer request form will be sent to the guarantor for undergraduate students and to the student for graduate students.
