Emergency Services

Emergency calls are answered by an operator, and they will ask relevant questions, and arrange an appropriate response. Calls are free on all mobile phones.
For critical incidents not requiring an ambulance, the police or fire departmemt immediately, we recommend you call International Affairs Division during business hours Monday to Friday.

110 (Police)

The national telephone number for all emergency police services in Japan is "110".

119 (Fire and Ambulance)

If you encounter any of the following emergencies, call 119 (local fire authority).
・Fire (in your house or in your neighborhood)
・Ambulance (when you get severely ill or injured)
・Rescue (If you get in serious trouble, such as you can't get out of a dangerous place, or if you see someone drowning)

Emergency Hospitals

If your illness is not urgent enough to need an ambulance, but you still need to see a doctor on a holiday or at night, you can go to the following emergency hospitals:

What to do if you get robbed

If any of your money or goods are stolen off-campus, you should either dial 110 or go the nearest police box ("Koban") to file a report. If you are robbed of something while on-campus, you should contact either the Student Affairs Section or the person in charge of your academic department right away.
