Kumamoto University Holds Entrance Ceremony for AY 2026
On April 4, 2026, Kumamoto University held its entrance ceremony for Academic Year 2026 at the Kumamoto Prefectural Theater.
At the ceremony, President Hisao Ogawa officially admitted 2,598 new students to Kumamoto University and its graduate schools. In his address, he encouraged the new students by saying, “University life offers limitless opportunities when you think for yourself and take initiative. I encourage you to explore your potential through a wide range of challenges—not only through classes and research, but also through extracurricular activities, community engagement, and even studying at universities overseas.”
In response, Mr. Taiki Imasaka of the Faculty of Science delivered the student oath on behalf of the incoming students, stating, “As a student of Kumamoto University, I pledge to carry myself with pride and a strong sense of responsibility, to remain committed to learning, and to make continuous efforts each day to become a person who can contribute to society.”
Following the ceremony, the Kumamoto University Philharmonic Orchestra performed, and the Kumamoto University Cheer Squad and the Cheerleading Team BLAZES gave energetic performances to welcome the new students.
