Global Kitchen Event Features South Korean Cuisine
— A Delicious Cultural Exchange at Kumamoto University —
On May 27th, the first Global Kitchen event of the academic year brought the rich flavors of South Korea to the lounge of the Center for International Education. For just one coin—500 yen—participants enjoyed a hands-on experience learning how to cook traditional Korean dishes and tasting the delicious results. Over 28 participants including international students, Japanese students and faculty members joined the event, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere filled with curiosity and conversation.
Two international students from South Korea led the event, preparing ingredients, sharing recipes, and guiding everyone through each step of the cooking process. Their friendly and informative approach offered participants a chance not only to enjoy the food but also to engage deeply with Korean culture. Attendees chatted with the chefs and other participants, creating a warm, cross-cultural atmosphere filled with laughter and of course, mouthwatering aromas.
Global Kitchen is an ongoing event series designed to celebrate diversity on campus by bringing people together through the universal language of food. Each session spotlights a different country’s cuisine, encouraging cultural exchange and global understanding.
The next Global Kitchen will be posted on our website as soon as the date is set. Don’t miss out—stay updated by visiting the Center for International Education homepage!
