Entrance Ceremony for the 2025 Academic Year Was Held
On April 4, 2025, the Entrance Ceremony for the 2025 Academic Year of Kumamoto University was held at the Kumamoto Prefectural Theater.
During the ceremony, President Hisao Ogawa officially welcomed 2,616 new students. In his speech, he stated, "While cherishing the knowledge, experiences, and relationships you have gained throughout your life, I hope that you will continue to 'refine yourself' at Kumamoto University, and become individuals who will contribute to society in the future."
In response, on behalf of the new students, Mr. Yuichi Ikeda from the Faculty of Law, made the student pledge, saying, "I vow to study in this land, rich in nature and history, deepen my learning, and connect my personal growth to society, contributing to the creation of a better future."
Following the ceremony, the Kumamoto University Philharmonic Orchestra captivated the audience with a performance, while the Kumamoto University Athletic Association Cheer Group and Cheerleading Team 'BLAZES' joined forces to deliver an exciting show that warmly welcome the new students.
Additionally, the ceremony was live-streamed online, with real-time captioning provided by Kumamoto University’s Student Support Club, ensuring that the event was accessible to all. The captions were displayed on the screen in subtitle format for a seamless viewing experience.
